Eagles Compete in Kermit N. Ambrose Huron Relays
Both teams headed to Ypsilanti this weekend where Eastern Michigan University hosted the Kermit N. Ambrose Huron Relays. Their they faced 30 teams from Michigan and Ohio. For many this was a great practice opportunity to hone their skills where the weather finally could not be a factor. The boys team had a great day lead by Cody Stemple who took second in the high jump competition with a school indoor record 6'8". Austin Yoemans broke his indoor personal best with an 18'4" in the long jump, while Eric Rohde and Patrick Govan both set personal records in the 60 high hurdles with 9.9 and 9.8 respectively. They also followed it up with indoor pr's in pole vault and high jump. Mikey Bowen kept the good times rolling with a pr in the 60 dash at 7.76. In shot put, Ryan Kelly threw 51'2" to shatter his previous indoor mark.
The girls showed had some fine performances against stiff competition. Field events were outstanding. Emma Neuman set a new school indoor record in the pole vault at 9'. Mackenzie Gross had a fine jump of 15'9" in the long jump to score. Erin Keller jumped 4'10" in the high jump and Nikki Wattles threw 30'3" in the shot put. The distance runners distinguished themseves with great early season times. They included Miranda Reinhart, Kennedy Boyd, Angela Probstfeld, Marisa Sailus Marie Walston, and Kara Cotter. The sprinters were also in great early season form as Mackenzie Gross, Adriana Ball, Jessica Erickson, Lena Tiedeman, Ashleigh Dubanik, and Haley Rathwell showed signs of having great seasons.
Both teams head back to the training schedule while they wait for the snow to melt and there first meet April 1st at Walled Lake Northern.
